Supplies, Supplies?

A shovel, chain, clear bottles, plastic bowl and red crepe paper are on my shopping list- Does anyone else have anything to add?

I've also had a dozen or so mini, lifelike, 'shipping' containers (like the ones at centerm) donated by my brother, which are up for grabs if anyone wants to use them. The scale might be interesting to play with, contrasting with the life size ones- wondering what kind of use they could be in photos juxtaposing small with large elements like grass, what might go into the containers, surrounding ships etc. They'll be here on Friday.

We're at the gallery on Friday, 1-4pm for the last in gallery prep day before doing our installation/documentation for the next two weeks at Portside Park.

Harbour Tour Photos

I have placed all of the photos on my camera on a flickr site- somehow this is supposed to link in with our bloggerspot as a slide show, but I haven't figured out that link yet!

go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/24559982@N05/ I hope you can find it, there are alot of photos of the gallery on line- the people tab will cut this down just to our pics! If you have problems finding the site, email and let me know.

There were some great photos, as well as some blurry, boat rocking ones- I kept them all, as I thought they were still interesting to see.

Please email me 3-5 photos by Friday, March 14, or add a comment on the photos( on the flickr site) that you would like printed if there are ones from my camera you would like to play with manipulating next time you are here.

Installation Artists

It was great to meet you all last week! Here are some links to see more of Andy Goldsworthy's work: http://www.goldsworthy.cc.gla.ac.uk/, search google images for Andy Goldsworthy, or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TWBSMc47bw for a little more video of him working.

Also, have a look at http://greenmuseum.org/archive_index.php which has many artists listed that create outdoor site specific installations.

If you'd like to read up on installation art in general here's a pretty in-depth article: http://www.tate.org.uk/tateetc/issue3/butisitinstallationart.htm, and a classic sculptor's installation exhibit by British sculptor Rachel Whiteread: http://www.tate.org.uk/modern/exhibitions/whiteread/default.shtm

Has anyone found any other images of installations to pass on?

Welcome!

Welcome to the Artist Apprenticeship Project everyone! This blog is our spot for communicating with one another, sharing ideas and thoughts on the project, and keeping in touch between project days. Gallery staff will be posting reminders, links, images and things to think about. We would like each of you to check here at least weekly and post your own links and developing thoughts about the project. This blog is for all of us, and it's not currently accessible to others outside our project, although we may decide to open it up as the project proceeds.

We're very excited to have you all involved!
